Nerazzurri President Beppe Marotta says he’s “optimistic” that Marcus Thuram can return for the Champions League semifinal first leg between Barcelona and Inter Milan.
Marotta spoke to Italian broadcaster DAZN, via FCInterNews, ahead of today’s Serie A match against Roma.
Inter Milan striker Marcus Thuram is currently out with an injury.
The 27-year-old suffered a bit of muscular fatigue in his thigh during Inter’s Champions League quarterfinal first leg against Bayern Munich earlier this month.
The injury is not an overly serious one. However, it has already seen Thuram miss two matches;
The Frenchman was absent for Inter’s losses against Bologna and AC Milan.
And Thuram will be out for at least one more, against Roma.
However, the Nerazzurri have an absolutely huge match just around the corner. They face Barcelona in the first leg of the Champions Leaguse semifinals on Wednesday.
And the big question has always concerned whether Thuram will be able to return for that match, having last played in another huge Champions League knockout outing.

Inter Milan President Beppe Marotta updated that Thuram “is slowly recovering.”
“I’m very optimistic,” he went on. “I’m convinced that he can be ready for Wednesday.”
Meanwhile, the Nerazzurri President insisted that “the mood is that of a team who are aware that they’re playing for something important.”
Marotta called facing Roma “a tough match.”
“It’s at a point when the mental side of things will play an important role.”
And the Inter President also gave his thoughts on the recent losses against Bologna and AC Milan.
“There’s nothing to reproach this team and this coach for,” Marotta declared. “Because this is one of the hardest seasons for us in the last few years.”
“We can only thank them with all our hearts,” the Inter President added.
“I’m sure that we can still give ourselves a great end to the season.”
“We have to be free mentally in order to get a positive result,” added Marotta.
