Kenneth Taylor has emerged as a leading option to replace Xavi Simons in the Netherlands squad for the upcoming World Cup. The Tottenham Hotspur player is expected to miss the tournament after a serious knee injury, leaving Ronald Koeman to weigh alternatives.
TuttoMercatoWeb reports that the Lazio midfielder, who joined in January, is among the most credible candidates. He has adapted well to Serie A and offers versatility between midfield and attacking roles.
Taylor faces competition from several attacking and midfield options, with Justin Kluivert, Crysencio Summerville, Guus Til, Noa Lang and Georginio Wijnaldum all under consideration.
A call-up for Taylor would mark a return to the national team after more than a year. His last appearance came in March 2025 in a Nations League fixture against Spain.
With Simons’ absence creating a sizeable gap, Taylor’s performances in Italy could be decisive in earning him a seat on the plane.
