Manuel Neuer will miss Germany’s final World Cup warm-up against the United States on Saturday, head coach Julian Nagelsmann confirmed on Friday.

According to BuLi News, the 40-year-old Bayern goalkeeper has been out for three weeks with a calf problem and skipped Friday’s final training session, so he will also sit out the friendly.

Nagelsmann said Neuer is doing well and moving towards full fitness, but Germany will not take any risks, stressing they want to maximise the chances he comes through the tournament perfectly.

He added that Neuer will be fully fit by the first group game against Curaçao on June 14 and is due to rejoin team training next week.

With Neuer unavailable, Oliver Baumann starts on Saturday, as he did in the 4-0 win over Finland last Sunday.

Bayern’s 18-year-old prospect Lennart Karl will also miss the United States match after a shock injury in training.
