Mjallby winger Abdoulie Manneh is in talks with another club after a move to Birmingham City fell through late on.
Mjallby’s Abdoulie Manneh’s proposed move to Birmingham City fell through late on as rival interest emerged in the player, it has been revealed.
There has been plenty of speculation surrounding the future of the attacking midfielder/forward for the past few months, after he played a starring role in Mjallby's shock win of the Swedish top flight title in 2025.
It had been reported a couple of months ago that Coventry were keen on the 21-year-old, but in a surprise January move, Blues then muscled in, with Manneh seemingly set for. St. Andrew’s in the January window.

However, FLW exclusively revealed that there was a late twist in that potential switch, with the deal breaking down at a very late stage.
Since then, further details have emerged, as Mjallby CEO Jacob Lennartsson told Fotboll Direkt that Manneh is now in talks with a new club over a switch, and that is now the likely reason as to why a move to the Midlands has not happened.
“We can confirm that Abdoulie Manneh has been given permission to visit another club for a potential transfer," Lennartsson said.
"At this point, we can neither confirm whether the deal will go through, nor whether it will not.
"As negotiations are currently underway between both the clubs, as well as between the player and the purchasing club.”
The youngster scored seven goals and registered four assists in 28 games as Mjallby won the Allsvenskan title, so it’s no surprise there has been serious interest in the player in the window.
There’s no denying that this would have been an exciting signing for Birmingham, with Manneh the sort of profile that the club would want in that he is young, has room for improvement, but is already highly-rated.
Clearly, Chris Davies and the recruitment team feel they need some more star quality out wide, and Manneh could’ve provided them with that spark.

But, you would presume the club are annoyed at how this has played out, and ultimately they should only sign players who are totally committed to the project at Blues. That wasn’t the case with Manneh, who now looks set to join another club.
So, whilst it is a setback for Birmingham, it may be a blessing in disguise over the long-term, but the club must act quickly to find a replacement if that’s an area they want to strengthen.
It has been a good start to the window with the addition of Kai Wagner, but Birmingham’s disappointing campaign so far proves that more work needs to be done, and it will be interesting to see who else they can bring in during the final weeks before the deadline.
