Lennart Karl is getting louder and louder, but there is one issue on which FC Bayern is completely silent. The 17-year-old will not be offered a new contract for the time being, even though he is considered one of the most exciting talents and is pushing himself to the fore with strong performances. However, this is not due to a lack of appreciation, but rather to the fact that Bayern has already structured the existing contract in such a way that every conceivable step in his development is automatically taken into account
BILD head of soccer Christian Falk made it clear in the „Bayern Insider“ podcast: „That’s not true. There won’t be a new contract because the existing contract covers everything.“
Transfer insider Fabrizio Romano had recently reported that Bayern were looking into an extension

Karl’s contract was only recently extended – and formulated with a particular focus on his future steps. It contains so-called „multi-scenarios“, i.e. automatic adjustments that take effect depending on Karl’s development. If he plays at the top earlier than expected, his contract automatically improves. If he continues to develop in the youth ranks, a different set of conditions applies
„There are clauses built in. The more games he plays, the more he performs, the more he earns. And these clauses now all come into force one after the other. The contract will also be automatically extended on his 18th birthday, on 22 February 2026. So far it runs until 2028, then until 2029,“ emphasizes Falk. This prevents Bayern from forcing the young attacking player into negotiations early on or putting him under additional pressure with new contract talks
The club is aware of how much attention Karl is currently receiving. He has played exceptionally well at youth level, possesses unusual maturity and self-confidence and is already one of the club’s most exciting young talents
However, both Uli Hoeneß and Herbert Hainer have recently warned against „overloading“ him. Bayern want to prevent Karl from falling into the spiral of expectations at too young an age that has already influenced the careers of other talents
Altschäffl puts it in a nutshell: „Karl should grow in peace. The contract is not an issue because we don’t want to put him under additional pressure.“
