A potential transfer of Michael Olise to Real Madrid has been a major topic of discussion this summer. Not so much on the part of the clubs, which have remained tight-lipped. But the media has repeatedly reported on new approaches and developments. At the moment, it seems clear: there isn’t much to it.

Not because Real Madrid isn’t interested, but rather because Bayern continues to block the move. The Royals have now set their sights on two other players: Man City superstar Rodri and Yan Diomande of RB Leipzig. Both deals are currently being worked on.

For Bayern, this means, first and foremost, a breather regarding Olise. And above all, it means they can approach the talks—scheduled for after the Frenchman’s return from his World Cup break—with a bit more peace of mind.

Why Real Pulled Out of the Olise Deal

Fabrizio Romano has now discussed why Real Madrid isn’t pushing the Olise deal. While the Frenchman remains President Florentino Pérez’s dream signing, Real Madrid doesn’t want to jeopardize its good relationship with Bayern and won’t make an offer if Bayern doesn’t open the door.

And that’s not likely to happen. Bayern officials have now emphasized on multiple occasions that they do not want to sell the attacking star. And it doesn’t matter whether the offer is 150 or 200 million euros. Those aren’t sums that would make the record champions break a sweat.

According to Romano, in the two or three weeks leading up to the start of the bidding war for Diomande, Real Madrid reportedly tried to understand exactly what the situation surrounding Olise is and whether the player himself might be open to a move.

However, it has been reported on multiple occasions that while Real Madrid is indeed attractive to Olise, there is no basis for a walkout or a publicly expressed desire to leave. It is precisely for this reason that Diomande came more and more into focus, until an offer was finally made just recently.
