Newcastle United are interested in signing Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford but could face competition from Arsenal and Liverpool.
Mbeumo has started the Premier League season in brilliant form for Brentford with only Manchester City’s Erling Haaland having outscored the Cameroon international.
The 25-year-old has eight goals in nine Premier League appearances after a brace against Ipswich Town last weekend.
His form has not gone unnoticed at top clubs and The Telegraph are reporting that Newcastle are keen on a deal for Mbeumo. Eddie Howe has been assessing right-wingers in recent windows and Mbeumo fits the profile of player the Magpies are seeking to sign.
However, Newcastle face spending restrictions and could be priced out of the race. Brentford value Mbeumo – who is contracted in West London until 2026 – at £50m.
Thomas Frank’s side could be forced to compromise on that fee as Mbeumo enters the final year of his deal next summer.
Arsenal and Liverpool are also monitoring his performances with the Bees, with the latter considering potential replacements for Mohamed Salah. The Egyptian’s deal at Liverpool expires at the end of the current campaign.
