Newcastle United are closely monitoring the situation of Paris Saint-Germain wonderkid Pierre Mounguengue.

According to RMC Sport, Newcastle have joined RC Strasbourg in the race for the 18-year-old, whose future is uncertain as he approaches the final weeks of his contract.

That uncertainty has alerted several clubs, with Strasbourg already submitting two offers. However, Newcastle could step in.

Mounguengue enjoyed a remarkable campaign for PSG’s Under-19 side, registering 21 goals and 12 assists in 35 appearances across all competitions.

The teenager’s performances earned him a professional debut in May, a sign of the faith PSG have in his potential.

Newcastle must move decisively for PSG talent

This is exactly the type of opportunity that Newcastle must exploit.

Rather than spending heavily on established stars, the Magpies must sign some of Europe’s brightest prospects before their value explodes.

If Newcastle succeed in signing Mounguengue, a loan move would appear the most logical next step.

Regular senior football elsewhere could accelerate his development while allowing the club to monitor his progress without the immediate pressure of Premier League expectations.

PSG’s academy has developed an impressive reputation for producing elite-level talent in recent years.

While not every prospect reaches the very top, the production line continues to generate players coveted across Europe.

Mounguengue’s blend of goalscoring instinct, creativity and technical quality suggests he could be the next breakout star from that conveyor belt.
