The race to sign Jonathan David (25) is hotting up with six Premier League clubs pursuing the soon-to-be out-of-contract Lille OSC forward, according to a report from The I.
David is all but certain to leave Lille upon the expiry of his contract at the end of the season, even if he is yet to publicly confirm his impending departure, opting instead to allude to faint hope of remaining with LOSC on several occasions. There is considerable competition for the Canadian’s signature. On the continent, Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, Inter Milan, and Juventus are all in the race. Speaking recently on the It’s Called Soccer podcast, David revealed a preference to play in La Liga, whilst he has previously spoken about a dream of playing for Barcelona.
However, there is plenty of interest from the Premier League, too. The I understands that Newcastle United are the latest team to join the race to sign the soon-to-be free agent. Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur, West Ham United, Chelsea and Liverpool are also interested. However, none of the interest from the aforementioned Premier League sides is advanced with neither tabling a bid for now. However, with his contract ticking down, that coud change in the coming weeks.
