“Newcastle United have now entered into negotiations with Benjamin Sesko’s agents”, per Philipp Hinze.
“No fundamental verbal agreement yet. However, the Magpies are seriously pushing.”
Newcastle are working to close out a deal on the player side before turning their attention to RB Leipzig to negotiate a fee. Die Roten Bullen insist on €80 million.
The Magpies have struggled in the summer transfer window, failing to seal a deal for attacking targets like Hugo Ekitike, Liam Delap, Joao Pedro, and Mohammed Kudus.
Meanwhile, Brentford have refused to let Yoanne Wissa move to St. James’ Park despite the player pushing hard for a move to Tyneside.
To make matters worse, Newcastle are in a bind with Alexander Isak pushing to leave the club. The Magpies are bracing for a bid from Liverpool for the Swedish ace.
Newcastle have now turned to Sesko, who netted 21 goals for Leipzig last term (13 in the Bundesliga).
Hailed as a ‘special player with a special profile’ by former RB Leipzig technical director Christopher Vivell, the highly rated Slovenian has been tipped for big things.
Arsenal, Chelsea, and Manchester United were keen on his signature, but Newcastle are pushing hard to get a deal over the line.
