Newcastle are the latest club to move for Rayan, with Vasco expecting a proposal soon. According to Globo.com, Bournemouth are also in the frame as the English sides compete for the forward.

Rayan has accepted Bournemouth’s offer of a five-year contract, but Vasco were unhappy with the figures put forward in writing, so they are waiting for improved terms. The club have been given an indication that Newcastle will enter the race, and Bournemouth are aware of their rival’s interest.

Vasco are urging the player’s family and representatives to wait for fresh proposals. The club are aware of interest from Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund and hope a Newcastle bid would be more favourable financially. There is a gentleman’s agreement that any move must satisfy all parties.

Pedrinho and Felipe are trying to convince Valkmar, in particular, and other members of the player’s camp to hold on for new offers. Ideally, Vasco wanted to keep Rayan until mid-year, when Europe’s main window opens.

As they await bids, preparation continues for Wednesday’s Clássico dos Milhões. Rayan worked in the gym on Monday and did not train on the pitch, leaving him a doubt to face Flamengo.

Some within the hierarchy believe a Newcastle proposal could arrive as early as Tuesday. If negotiations are active between the clubs, the expectation is that he will miss the derby.

Against Maricá, while Vasco and Bournemouth discussed terms, his entourage preferred he did not play, but Rayan asked to take part.
