German centre-back Malick Thiaw looks set to stay at Milan after impressing new head coach Massimiliano Allegri, reports from Italy claim, despite being linked with a move away from the Rossoneri earlier this summer.

The former Schalke man was linked with a move to Como or Newcastle United this summer but now, in a twist of fate, looks set to be a major part of the new set-up at Milan.

After looking on the verge of leaving, new door opens for Thiaw

According to MilanNews24, the German defender has impressed Allegri with his technical and physical attributes, with the head coach reportedly a fan of the 23-year-old’s imposing physicality and vision.

The player could be a perfect fit for Allegri’s system at the Rossoneri, with the Italian focusing heavily on defence and tactical solidity.

New Milan sporting director Igli Tare wants to usher in a new era at the club, with a focus on having a young and dynamic squad of players – and Thiaw is a ready-made fit.
