In a recent interview with Football Insider, journalist Pete O’Rourke stated that Newcastle United are eyeing a move for West Ham United winger Mohammed Kudus. O’Rourke said,

“Newcastle can afford a deal for Kudus.

“As it stands, Bryan Mbeumo is their top target for that right-sided forward position.

“Kudus is on their list and has admirers within the Newcastle hierarchy, and is somebody they feel could come in and strengthen their attacking options.

“He obviously has that release clause of around £75million, but I don’t think many Premier League clubs will be willing to pay that.

“Due to West Ham’s situation, his suitors feel they can get him for a cheaper fee.

“They’ll definitely be willing to listen to offers for the Ghana international.

“If Newcastle were to miss out on Mbeumo to Man United or somebody else, it would push Kudus further up their list of targets for the right-winger role.

“Kudus still feels he has a lot to offer on the European scene, he’s still only 24.

“If Newcastle come calling with Champions League football, it’s something he would be open to.”

Kudus’ Inconsistent Form In English Football Last Season

Kudus had an inconsistent campaign at the East London club but managed to put in a string of influential displays for them in the Premier League. The 24-year-old registered five goals and grabbed four assists in 35 matches for the Hammers last season across all fronts.

His current contract at the London Stadium will run out in the summer of 2028 which could make it difficult for Newcastle to land him on the cheap this off-season.

What Will Kudus Add To Newcastle United Boss Eddie Howe’s Side?

Kudus is an excellent dribbler with the ball and can use his pace to cause a lot of trouble for his marker out on the flanks. He can shoot the ball with venom from long range and can create a few inviting chances for his teammates in the final third.

The Ghanaian sensation mainly operates as a right-sided wide player but can also fill in as a left-winger or as a centre-forward if told to do so. He is quite familiar with the Premier League and won’t take much time to adjust to life at the Tyneside club.

Kudus would no doubt add more firepower to Newcastle boss Eddie Howe’s attack. He is good enough to challenge for a regular first-team spot at St. James’ Park in the coming seasons.

At 24, the Accra-born talent has his best years ahead of him which makes him a worthy target for the Magpies to pursue in this summer transfer window.
