Newcastle United enquire about Giorgio Scalvini and why deal could be possible | OneFootball

Newcastle United have faced several setbacks this summer, with Eddie Howe also having departed. The Magpies’ interest in Atalanta’s Giorgio Scalvini is now growing.

While other outlets have reported this first, Gianluca Di Marzio has now reported about their initial contact for the Bergamo club’s versatile defender. This has been described as exploratory, with contact also made with the player.

No formal move has been made yet, with the player presented by Ali Barat’s Epic Sports Agency.

Deal could be possible

Atalanta are trying to execute a major sale this summer, with Ederson’s move to Manchester United having fallen through. This will force them to  consider sales of Scalvini and even Charles De Ketelaere. So even if they would put up a tough stance, they would be open to offers for the Italian but their asking price is likely to be significant. They are difficult to deal with in the market, as evident from how Inter struggled in their move for Marco Palestra earlier this summer.
