In a recent report, La Gazzetta dello Sport mentioned that Newcastle United are facing competition from Turkey for Juventus forward Dusan Vlahovic. It is believed that the Magpies would have to rival Galatasaray and Fenerbahce in the race to land the Serbian striker this summer.

Vlahovic’s Impressive Form In Italian Football

The 25-year-old managed to catch the eye at times as the focal point of Juve’s attack in the previous campaign. Vlahovic found the back of the net 15 times and earned five assists in 41 matches for the Turin outfit last season across multiple competitions.

The Serbian talent proved his worth in the final third by averaging 3.68 shots per 90 minutes in Serie A football. However, he only managed to keep 34.2% of his attempts on target. Vlahovic also needs to improve his link-up play up top, based on his pass completion rate of 69.1% in the Italian first division (stats via fbref.com).

His current contract at the Turin club will run out next summer which could give the Magpies a chance to sign him on a cut-price deal this off-season.

Is Vlahovic A Good Choice For Newcastle United Boss Eddie Howe?

Vlahovic is proficient at finding a yard of space for himself to get some strikes in at goal. He can create the odd chance for his teammates to score and is a good dribbler with the ball. Standing at 1.90m, the Serbian sensation can use his strong frame to win a few aerial duels for his team in the final third. However, he has to find a way to be more consistent with his goal-scoring and improve his link-up play in the opposition half.

Furthermore, there are some concerns over whether Vlahovic would be able to make a smooth transition to life in the Premier League. Still, he is an experienced forward who would add more goals to Newcastle boss Eddie Howe’s frontline.

Vlahovic is good enough to challenge for a regular starting spot at the Tyneside club next season. He might even help the Magpies compete across all fronts over the next few years.

At 25, Vlahovic has his best years ahead of him which makes him a decent choice for Newcastle to consider in this transfer period.
