Newcastle United Fight to Keep Alexander Isak Amid Liverpool Interest
Newcastle United have launched bold plan to keep hold of star striker Alexander Isak amid rising transfer interest particularly from Liverpool in the 2025 summer window.
The Swedish international's tied to St. James Park until 2028 and remains happy at the club with spot in the Champions league next season.
However according to the Daily Mirror, the Magpies fear they may become victim of their own success with top PL clubs circling.
Arsenal have long admired the 24 year old while Liverpool have now emerged as serious contenders reportedly ready to break the bank to land him , much like they tried with Florian Wirtz earlier.
Isak signed in 2022 from Real Sociedad for 63 million pound sterling, has exploded in form. He’s scored 62 goal in 109 game including 23 goal and 6 assist in 34 league matches during the 2024 / 25 season marking his 2nd 20+ goal season in the PL.
Isak, Newcastle’s highest paid player at 150,000 pound sterling per week, recently said:
"I’ve spoken before about how much I love this club and this city. I feel very comfortable here and I’m not thinking about the future just about giving my best for Newcastle"
But Newcastle aren't taking chances. The club's reportedly ready to break its wage structure to offer new improved contract.
Manager Eddie Howe commented:
"I don’t make guarantees about any player not because I doubt them but because it’s smarter that way. We want to keep our best players. That’s how we build lasting success"
