The Magpies revealed the news via a post on their official club website this evening.
The 24-year-old went under the surgeon’s knife last week and she will now begin the lengthy rehabilitation process.
Cataldo joined Newcastle United from Crystal Palace in the January 2024 transfer window. She helped the club to seal the FA Women’s National League Northern Premier Division title before featuring for The Magpies in their debut season in Barclays WSL2 in 2024/2025. Cataldo was a regular in the first team squad earlier this season before sustaining her injury.
The defender will be bitterly disappointed to miss the remainder of the season with Newcastle United pushing hard for promotion to the Barclays Women’s Super League. After a patchy start to the campaign, The Magpies have now climbed into fourth position in the Barclays WSL2 table. They are just three points off the automatic promotion places with half of the season left to play.
Newcastle United return to Barclays WSL2 action following the winter break when they play host to Birmingham City on Sunday 11 January 2026. The game provides The Magpies with a big opportunity to take another step forward in their push for promotion.
