In a recent report, The Sun claimed that Newcastle United have identified Manchester United attacker Marcus Rashford as a target. It has been mentioned that the Red Devils are eyeing a move to acquire the services of the English wide player on a season-long deal.

Rashford’s Impressive Loan Spell At Villa Park

Rashford enjoyed a decent loan spell at Aston Villa last season when he put in a handful of promising displays for them in the final third. The England international played in 17 matches for the Villans in the previous campaign, scoring four goals and picking up six assists across multiple competitions.

The 27-year-old deserves a ton of credit for averaging 3.65 shots per 90 minutes in the Premier League but only kept 27.8% of his attempts on target. However, he has to find a way to improve his ball distribution in the final third, as evidenced by his pass completion rate of 71.3% in the English top flight (stats via fbref.com).

His current contract at his parent club Manchester United will run out in the summer of 2028 which could make it difficult for the Magpies to sign him on a cut-price deal.

Is Rashford A Decent Choice For Newcastle United Boss Eddie Howe?

Rashford is a good dribbler with the ball at his feet and can make some driving runs with it in and around the opponent’s penalty area. He can shoot the ball with venom from long range and has got the eye to create the odd chance for his teammates to find the back of the net.

The England international can chip in by scoring his fair share of goals up top when he is playing well on the field. He mainly operates as a left-sided wide player but can also fill in as a right-winger or play as a centre-forward if asked to do so.

We can expect Rashford to add more pace and goals to Newcastle head coach Eddie Howe’s frontline. He has what it takes to compete for a regular first-team spot at the Tyneside club in the coming seasons.

At 27, Rashford has his best years ahead of him which makes him a decent choice for the Magpies to consider in this summer transfer window.
