Newcastle had monitored the ‘spectacular’ 24-year-old winger closely before focusing their efforts on Munoz. Despite missing out on their primary target, sporting director Ross Wilson remains determined to back Eddie Howe in ensuring Newcastle land a new winger at St James’ Park to fill the attacking void left by Anthony Gordon’s £70 million move to Barcelona.
However, securing Abde will require a major financial commitment, though Newcastle have the funds available following their recent high-profile sale.
They could bypass lengthy negotiations with Real Betis by triggering Ezzalzouli’s £51 million (€60 million) buyout clause to avoid another market battle.
While Betis may consider offers around €50 million, strong interest in Abde across Europe gives the La Liga side significant leverage, especially as Barcelona retain a 20% sell-on clause from his initial move.
Ezzalzouli is coming off a superb individual campaign under Manuel Pellegrini, scoring 15 goals and providing 10 assists in all competitions to help Betis secure a historic Champions League qualification.
His combination of aggressive dribbling, elite pace, and tactical versatility makes him an ideal candidate to replicate Gordon’s impact on Tyneside.
After picking up an injury in Morocco’s final pre-World Cup friendly, Abde is currently unable to showcase his talents on the global stage at the ongoing World Cup.
