The Toon teenagers fell behind after the half-hour mark at the Magpies' Little Benton Academy following Jamal Khan's opener before, in the second-half, conceding twice in the space of a minute following strikes from Jayden Ogbebor and Ryan Liu towards the hour mark.

Fifteen-year-old Alfie Seldon pulled a goal back for the young Magpies before Stoke were reduced to ten men in stoppage-time as Jenson Tortoishell picked up a second bookable offence but, despite the advantage, the hosts were unable to stage a late fightback.

Newcastle United Under-18s return to Premier League Cup action on Saturday, 4th October when facing a Group B clash against Aston Villa (kick-off 11am BST).
