Newcastle United and Liverpool are reportedly interested in signing Hugo Ekitiké, who could leave Eintracht Frankfurt this summer. Paris Saint-Germain, his former club, stands to gain from the transfer thanks to a 20 percent sell-on clause.
Sky Sport Germany’s Florian Plettenberg says Liverpool have Ekitiké high on their list of attacking targets. But the 23-year-old French forward knows any move to Anfield will probably depend on player sales, especially Darwin Núñez.
GIVE ME SPORT recently reported that Liverpool are ready to start talks with Frankfurt, but the deal might only go ahead if Núñez is sold.
The outlet also notes that Liverpool have shown a willingness to negotiate, giving Frankfurt hope they could get their full £86 million asking price. With several new signings already in place, Liverpool would likely need to move Núñez to make room for Ekitiké in the squad.

The Athletic reported Monday that Newcastle United are working on a deal worth about €75 million to sign Ékitiké. Although an agreement isn’t close yet, talks between the clubs are ongoing.
If completed, the transfer would surpass Newcastle’s previous record—the €71.2 million they spent on Aleksander Isak from Real Sociedad in summer 2022.
Moreover, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano revealed that Newcastle officially submitted a bid to Eintracht Frankfurt on Monday for Ékitiké. Their offer exceeds the €70 million proposed by another club this summer, as Newcastle pushes to finalize the deal.
According to a previous report from The Telegraph, Newcastle United are eyeing Ékitiké in what would be a significant statement of intent. The Premier League club are looking to bring in a striker to partner with Alexander Isak up front.
