Deportivo La Coruña have reportedly identified Real Madrid academy midfielder Manuel Angel as one of their priorities for the summer transfer window as they continue preparations for life back in La Liga.

According to AS, the newly promoted side has already initiated discussions with Real Madrid over a possible deal for the 22-year-old, although negotiations remain at an early stage and there is still a long way to go before an agreement can be reached.

Manuel Angel’s Real Madrid situation is one that could evolve over the coming weeks, with Deportivo eager to strengthen their squad ahead of a demanding return to Spain’s top flight.

However, any operation involving Real Madrid is expected to require patience, particularly when it comes to promising academy players.

Deportivo La Coruña interested Manuel Angel

The Manuel Angel transfer talks are part of Deportivo’s strategy to reinforce the squad with young players capable of making an immediate impact in La Liga.

In this regard, the Coruña-based outfit see the Real Madrid academy graduate as an ideal profile to bolster the midfield.

Although discussions between both clubs are progressing slowly, Deportivo remain optimistic about keeping negotiations alive.

The club’s preference is to secure Manuel Angel on a permanent transfer rather than through a temporary loan arrangement, although that ambition presents its own challenges.

Real Madrid have traditionally been cautious when allowing talented academy products to leave permanently, preferring to maintain control over their long-term development.

For that reason, negotiations involving Los Blancos are often lengthy and detailed.

Despite the slow pace, however, Deportivo continue to monitor the situation closely as they await further progress.

Real Madrid expected to retain future rights

Manuel Angel’s Real Madrid future remains uncertain, but the club already have a clear strategy in place should a transfer eventually materialise.

The midfielder remains under contract until 2027, which gives Real Madrid a strong negotiating position.

As has become common practice with departures involving La Fabrica talents, Los Blancos are expected to insist on retaining 50% of the player’s future rights.

This approach has allowed Real Madrid to continue benefiting financially from former academy players while still giving them opportunities to establish themselves elsewhere.

As far as Manuel Angel is concerned, he looks likely to leave, although that will happen on Real Madrid’s terms.
