The next departure from FC Bayern is on the horizon for the summer – and following the confirmed departures of Leon Goretzka and Raphael Guerreiro, Min-jae Kim could also be on the wish list of Juventus

As the Gazzetta dello Sport reports, the Italians have already made contact with the German record champions. Particularly explosive: Juve coach Luciano Spalletti is said to be a big supporter of a transfer. Both know each other well from their time together at SSC Napoli, where they won the championship together in 2023

Bayern open to talks

Munich do not appear to be fundamentally averse to a possible sale. According to the report, those responsible would be prepared to let Kim go if a suitable offer was made. The pain threshold is said to be around €30 million – significantly less than the €50 million FCB once paid for the South Korean

However, a loan is not an option for Bayern. Should Kim leave, then only on a permanent transfer. This fits in with the general strategy of streamlining the squad in certain areas and at the same time creating financial leeway

Kim is said to be unhappy with his current role at FC Bayern, with the central defender receiving less playing time than he had hoped and apparently taking a critical view of his sporting prospects

In view of the competitive situation in defence in particular, little could change in the future. A move back to Serie A – to a familiar environment – would therefore appear to be an attractive option from the player’s point of view

Salary as the biggest obstacle

But a deal is anything but easy. In addition to the transfer fee, Kim’s salary could be a problem. The 28-year-old is said to earn between eight and nine million euros net at FC Bayern – a sum that Juventus are unlikely to be able to afford in this form

According to the report, the Italians are therefore trying to reduce both the transfer fee and the salary structure, which is currently the biggest sticking point in the negotiations

One thing is certain: the situation is in flux. Several clubs have been monitoring Kim for months, and Juventus now appear to be taking concrete steps. For FC Bayern, a sale would be an opportunity to further restructure the squad and become more financially flexible

Whether a transfer actually takes place will ultimately depend on whether both clubs can come closer together in terms of the economic framework conditions. At the moment, the ideas are still apart – but the door for a departure is clearly open.
