Inter face a waiting game in their pursuit of Ivan Perisic, as the winger’s return to the San Siro remains inextricably linked to PSV Eindhoven’s fate in the Champions League.
According to L’Interista, the Nerazzurri may have to wait at least another week before they can finalize a deal for the Croatian veteran. Everything hinges on the final round of the Champions League league phase; should PSV fail to secure a spot in the top 24 and face elimination, the Dutch club is expected to open the doors for Perisic’s departure.
However, should PSV advance to the knockout play-offs, a deal for the 36-year-old would become virtually impossible this January. Inter have reportedly made it clear that there is no Plan B—it is either Perisic or nothing for the right flank in this window. The club is unwilling to sign a temporary stop-gap and would instead prefer to wait until the summer to address the position if the Perisic deal falls through.
With Cristian Chivu eager for the experience and tactical flexibility Perisic provides, Inter are forced to watch the European results closely before making their final move.
