Neymar is expected to make his Santos return this weekend in the Brasileirão. According to Globo.com, he has kept to his training programme at CT Rei Pelé while the squad travelled to Valencia, Venezuela, for a Copa Sudamericana tie against Universidad Central.

More than 15 days on from Brazil's World Cup elimination, the club now has greater clarity over his situation. Neymar took a short break, reported back last week and will have sufficient preparation time before Saturday's fixture.

Santos host Chapecoense on Saturday at 18:30 Brasília time in the 20th round at Vila Belmiro. The forward could start or be limited to a brief outing, with the coaching staff to decide.

Since Brazil's early exit there had been some concern at the club regarding his future, chiefly on the psychological side as the latter stages of his career approach. Physically, he remained in good condition while on international duty.

Neymar has told the board he intends to honour his contract through to December before choosing his next step. Retirement at the end of the year or a move to the United States has not been ruled out, subject to interest.
