Neymar kept off pitch at Santos as Gabigol trains with ball

Santos reconvened on Wednesday afternoon without Neymar on the pitch at CT Rei Pelé. The number 10 stayed inside and worked in the gym alongside right-back Mayke.

According to Globo.com, it was Neymar’s second day of activity at the training centre. The attacking midfielder, absent from Sunday’s draw with Cruzeiro, had been at the facility a day before the rest of Cuca’s squad resumed training.

Gabigol did train on the grass. The number nine, who underwent a pubis procedure last weekend, worked normally with the ball.

On the pitch, Cuca and his staff, now including new assistant Eudes Pedro, oversaw technical and tactical drills.

Santos are back in on Thursday morning at CT Rei Pelé. Their next Brasileirão assignment is against Remo at Vila Belmiro on 2 April at 19:00 Brasília time.
