Santos are set for changes when they host Remo on Thursday at 19:00 Brasília time at Vila Belmiro, with Neymar back in training. According to Globo.com, the forward worked on Tuesday morning in the penultimate session.
Neymar has recovered from the fatigue that kept him out against Cruzeiro at the Mineirão, Cuca’s first game in charge. He has trained with the group without restrictions since last Friday and has a chance to start.
Any start will depend on the staff’s assessment of his physical and technical condition compared with rivals for the role. He is expected to face Remo and then Flamengo at the Maracanã at the weekend, before being rested again for workload management.
Gabriel Barbosa remains out. He missed the Cruzeiro game due to loan terms and will not be fit to face Remo as he recovers from oedema in the right calf soleus muscle.
His absence opens a contest in attack. Rony led the line in Cuca’s debut, with Thaciano also an option now.
A probable Santos to face Remo: Gabriel Brazão; Igor Vinícius, Lucas Veríssimo, Luan Peres and Escobar; Oliva, Gustavo Henrique and Neymar; Rony, Thaciano (Barreal) and Moisés.
