Neymar, 33, underwent successful surgery on his left knee on Monday as he targets a fourth World Cup in a little over six months.
The club said in a statement that the operation had gone well, he was in good condition, would leave hospital early afternoon and would begin rehabilitation immediately.
As planned, Brazil team doctor Rodrigo Lasmar performed a Monday morning arthroscopy to treat a medial meniscus lesion. It is the third successful operation he has carried out on Neymar after two previous procedures on the forward’s metatarsals. The Brazil international has 128 caps and 79 goals.
He is expected to be sidelined until at least early February.
Neymar is expected to extend his deal with Santos by six months, a short agreement designed to give him a chance of making the World Cup in June 2026.
