Neymar struck a brace as Santos beat Vasco 2-1 at Vila Belmiro on Thursday night in the fourth round of the Campeonato Brasileiro. He still played down talk of a Brazil recall.
According to Globo.com, the forward declined to look beyond club form in his post-match interview, weeks before the final friendlies that precede Carlo Ancelotti's final World Cup list.
He noted that a week ago some had called him the worst player in the world and felt he performed better in the previous game. For him, football swings quickly, from being seen as retired to being told to go to the World Cup.
He added that he is taking it day by day, working to get into his best shape. This was only his third appearance of 2026 and his second straight 90 minutes, while the goals were his first of the year and lifted him into Santos' top 10 scorers with 152 across two spells.
Brazil face France on 26 March and Croatia on 31 March.
