Nice are pushing to sign Elye Wahi on loan, but Sevilla's interest has complicated talks, according to L'Équipe.

Three years after arriving from Lorient, Terem Moffi is expected to leave OGC Nice in January, at least on loan. Back-up Kevin Carlos slipped behind Zoumana Diallo and Bernard Nguene at the weekend. The club therefore need a centre-forward.

Wahi could fill that role. He has already spoken with Franck Haise, his coach at Racing in 2023-2024. Discussions continue with Eintracht Frankfurt over a loan to the Côte d’Azur, though Sevilla's late move has checked Nice's optimism.

Sevilla also want a loan, but with a purchase option, unlike Nice. Wahi is contracted to 2030 in Frankfurt, where he has struggled. A high option level appeals to the German club and gives Sevilla an edge.

Even so, Nice still rate their chances at 50% to secure the former Montpellier striker. Whether it would be a smart addition after a mixed summer window is hard to judge.

Wahi knows Ligue 1 and Haise, which could help a return. He has started only three of Eintracht's 20 matches this season, with one goal in the German Cup against a fifth-tier side and three assists. His most recent outing came on 9 December, 22 minutes in the Champions League against FC Barcelona.
