Nico Schlotterbeck 'in talks' over Borussia Dortmund deal beyond 2027 | OneFootball

Borussia Dortmund remain in negotiations to extend Nico Schlotterbeck’s contract beyond 2027, with managing director for sport Lars Ricken providing an update after months of dialogue.

“We are still in good, confidential discussions with Nico,” Ricken said in comments to Ruhr Nachrichten.

“This shows mutual respect, because we are very clear on this. We share the same expectations, and we act accordingly.”

Another player with an uncertain future is Karim Adeyemi, and Dortmund are also discussing a contract beyond 2027. It has been suggested a sale could be required after their early Champions League exit and the funds committed to Felix Nmecha’s extension.

Ricken rejected that notion, saying, “Just as our unfortunate early exit from the Champions League does not force us to sell players, the extension with Felix does not require it either. One does not necessarily lead to the other.”
