Bayern Munich are trying to resurrect a move for Nicolas Jackson on Deadline Day, just hours after seemingly ending their pursuit of the Chelsea striker.

On Sunday evening, Bayern walked away from talks over a potential permanent deal for the Senegal international.

It was initially agreed on Saturday that Jackson would join the reigning Bundesliga champions on a season-long loan costing £13million and including the option for a £56.3m transfer next summer.

But Chelsea officials decided to cancel the loan after Liam Delap suffered a hamstring injury against Fulham that could keep him out for “six to eight weeks”, according to an estimate by manager Enzo Maresca.

With Christopher Nkunku having completed his permanent move to AC Milan over the weekend, Delap’s injury left Chelsea with only one fit senior striker available — fellow summer signing Joao Pedro — so Jackson was told to return.

The player was left furious, informed of the Blues' decision shortly after landing in Munich ahead of a planned medical.

Jackson’s agent Ali Barat met with Bayern officials on Sunday to try and agree a permanent deal, which Chelsea may be open to after agreeing to cut short striker Marc Guiu’s loan at Sunderland to further boost their striking options.

Now, Standard Sport understands talks have reopened over a possible move to Bayern for Jackson, who remains in Bavaria with his future unclear on Deadline Day.

Chelsea expect a busy end to the window as they try to close a loan deal for Brighton winger Facundo Buonanotte.

They have held an interest in Spain midfielder Fermin Lopez, though that move is seen as less likely now that Barcelona have made it clear they do not want him to leave.

A host of players could also leave Chelsea before the 7pm BST deadline as the club try to offload Axel Disasi, Raheem Sterling, Ben Chilwell and David Datro Fofana.

A final decision on Tyrique George could depend on other deals. Omari Kellyman is heading to League One side Cardiff on a season-long loan.
