Nigel Lonwijk joins Maccabi Haifa as permanent move ends Wolves stint | OneFootball

Nigel Lonwijk has left Wolves to join Maccabi Haifa on a permanent deal, ending six and a half years with the club.

He joined from PSV Eindhoven in January 2020 and progressed from the under-18s through the academy. According to ExpressAndStar.com, Wolves retain a 25 per cent sell-on clause.

The 23-year-old did not make a senior appearance for Wolves, instead taking in six loan spells. He featured in several pre-season camps, including the club’s trip to Portugal this summer.

He was not in the squad for the mid-week friendly win over Maidenhead, and the transfer fee is £500,000.

Wolves’ technical director Matt Jackson described it as a good move following a strong development pathway that included extensive loan experience. With a year left on Lonwijk’s contract, he said a permanent switch suits player and club, securing immediate remuneration and future financial interest. Jackson praised Lonwijk’s professionalism and example to young players, noted his young family, and wished him well.
