Samuel Chukwueze is not having the best of starts to the new season as he continues to struggle for starts with AC Milan and now his national team coach has picked out areas he must improve.

Chukwueze was Milan’s most expensive signing of the 2023 summer window but there is a risk that he could end up falling by the wayside completely as he is not in the best of form and has an undroppable Christian Pulisic ahead of him.

On the day of the game against Fiorentina there was a report claiming that the Rossoneri management would evaluate a sale for the right price. He came off the bench in that game, drawing a save with one shot off the dribble but then hitting the corner flag with another effort from a better locaion.

Nigeria’s head coach Augustine Eguavoen spoke to NFF TV about the Milan winger, firstly expressing his preference for the type of players he wants to have on the pitch and then pointing out some things that he wants Chukwueze to do better.

“I am a coach who likes players who can play in more than one position. If you can play in more than one position, you are fine with me. I don’t want rigid players, I want players who know how to express themselves, he began.

“You can imagine Chukwueze showing up in defence to lend a hand, receiving the ball, what he does, he doesn’t dribble. We know how good he is when he has to dribble, but he should know where to dribble and where not to dribble.”

Finally, the coach also asked the former Villaereal player to make an effort in defence: “If he comes in, he has to do his defensive duty.”
