Niko Kovač says Dortmund lack star quality of Sancho, Dembélé and Haaland | OneFootball

Borussia Dortmund head coach Niko Kovač believes the current squad lacks the kind of star quality previously seen from Jadon Sancho, Ousmane Dembélé, Erling Haaland and Marco Reus.

According to BuLi News, he made the comments during a discussion hosted by Reiner Calmund on Monday evening.

Kovač said Dortmund do not currently have the type of individual brilliance some supporters want to see, drawing a contrast with standout talents who have moved on in recent years.

He stressed he is pleased with the group at his disposal, saying the players are excellent to work with, while acknowledging the desire to keep improving.

Kovač took charge in January 2025 on a contract running to the summer of 2027.
