Aarón Anselmino is expected to start successive games for Borussia Dortmund following his loan move from Chelsea late in the window. Speaking ahead of Saturday’s Bundesliga clash against Heidenheim, BVB head coach Niko Kovac discussed the Argentine defender, as well as the signings of Carney Chukwuemeka and Fabio Silva.
“The three new players already have the disadvantage of not having completed pre-season training with us,” said Kovac at Thursday’s pre-match press conference. “Now we’re trying to work the three of them hard enough so that they can play with us, or at least get partial experiences. We’ll try and give them the minutes they need on the pitch.
“But then also the appropriate recovery in training. That’s how we manage things. We don’t want anyone to get injured. We want to make sure we have everyone on board. They still have a lot of catching up to do, that’s true. But I think we’re very well positioned, and we’ll manage that in the next weeks and months.”
Although there is no purchase option in Anselmino’s loan from Chelsea, Borussia Dortmund bosses are already looking into ways they could sign the 20-year-old defender on a permanent basis. Anselmino made his debut in Dortmund’s last league game, impressing alongside Waldemar Anton and Ramy Bensebaini.
