FC Barcelona made a massive move this summer when they renewed Lamine Yamal’s contract, extending it until 2031 and making him one of the highest-paid players at the Catalan club.

It was a much-deserved bump for the Spaniard, who finished second in the recently concluded 2025 Ballon d’Or rankings. However, Lamine has struggled a bit since the start of the 2025/26 season, with a pubic injury keeping him out of a few games.

He made a brief return against Real Sociedad and subsequently against PSG before suffering a relapse. He is now aiming to recover in time for the Girona game after the international break.

In the meantime, speculation surfaced this week claiming that Saudi Arabian club Al-Hilal had made an extraordinary offer of €400 million to sign Lamine Yamal and were prepared to hand him a seven-year deal.

Now, according to MARCA, Barcelona have completely denied the existence of any such offer and have made it clear that the winger is not for sale under any circumstances. Club sources confirmed that even if such a proposal had arrived, it would not have been considered.

This comes as no surprise. If Lamine wanted to leave Barcelona, he would never have put pen to paper on a new contract in the summer, and why would he want to abandon a project that is still in its embryonic stage?

Lamine is the face of Hansi Flick’s Barcelona, and it was not for no reason that he was handed the No. 10 jersey in the summer. Like it or not, he is widely seen as the successor to Lionel Messi on the right wing, and he has done a lot in his brief career so far to suggest that he can hit those heights.

It is good to see water poured on this transfer rumour even before it started. Lamine is at Barcelona, and there is no doubt that he will continue to enthral fans in the coming season and beyond.
