Thomas Müller is currently chasing the MLS title with the Vancouver Whitecaps – and has spoken concretely about his future for the first time. A quick comeback at FC Bayern seems to be out of the question.
He seems to have arrived, happy and motivated: Thomas Müller is currently leading the Vancouver Whitecaps through the MLS play-offs. Los Angeles FC await in the quarter-finals on Sunday (3:30 CET) – from now on it’s „win or fly“.
In an interview with kicker, the 36-year-old is focused and optimistic: „We’re in a good position in all areas. A few important players will be back in time.“
For Müller, who has won every trophy with FC Bayern, an MLS title would still be of great significance. „I’ve moved to a new league and a new country. That would be an extraordinary team achievement.“
And then the decisive sentence – the question of the future: When asked whether he would definitely play a second season in Vancouver, Müller answers without hesitation: „Yes – full attack.“

From a purely formal point of view, the situation seems clear: Müller will remain in Vancouver until at least the end of 2026. But in Munich they know better than anywhere else: Thomas Müller is a player who rarely slams the door in the lock.
What is clear is that Müller is 100% focused on Vancouver. He talks about „greedy humility“, about responsibility, about the importance of a possible title – and about his role as a leading player in a team without much title experience.
Bayern is not an issue for him at the moment. He doesn’t want to speculate, he wants to deliver.
But one thing is also clear: Müller’s doors are always open at Säbener Straße. President Herbert Hainer recently emphasized that he could very well imagine Müller as Bayern president.
