Hakan Calhanoglu has not suffered a serious injury, and could be fit for Inter Milan’s Serie A clash with Juventus.

The Nerazzurri confirm that the 30-year-old underwent medical tests which showed an elongation of his left adductor. He will certainly miss Wednesday’s match against Young Boys.

Calhanoglu gave Inter a big scare in yesterday’s Serie A match against Roma.

The Turkish international started the match. However, he was barely able to play ten minutes before he had to come off.

The problem concerned Calhanoglu’s thigh.

The initial indications from Inter’s medical staff were that the former AC Milan and Bayer Leverkusen midfielder had a problem with the adductor muscles in his left thigh.

After the match, Inter coach Simone Inzaghi admitted that he would have started Kristjan Asllani in place of Calhanoglu had the Albanian been available.

This was because of some stiffness Calhanoglu had been feeling in his thigh in the last few days.

Inter were able to win yesterday’s match against Roma without Calhanoglu.

But the Nerazzurri have plenty of matches right on the way. Therefore, the important question concerns when exactly the Turkish international can return.

And Calhanoglu underwent medical tests today. Inter confirm that the club’s medical staff performed an MRI scan on the midfielder.

This scan ruled out a major injury like a strain or tear.

However, there is an elongation in Calhanoglu’s left adductor. That will certainly mean that he’s on the sidelines for a few days.

Inter state that Calhanoglu’s condition will be monitored day by day.

Clearly, there would be no chance of the 30-year-old rushing back for Wednesday’s Champions League match away to Young Boys.

But then there is the question of the Serie A match against Juventus next Sunday.

The timeline would be tight for Calhanoglu to recover and then get back in training.

But the Derby d’Italia against the Bianconeri is certainly a massive match. Calhanoglu could push to be fit for it.
