According to Glorioso 1904, Benfica are interested in Nobel Mendy, but no offer is on the table and the 21-year-old is not a current priority for next season’s planning.
The report adds that Benfica’s hierarchy, led by Rui Costa, hold broad agreement on the Real Betis defender, though he remains only one of several options should defensive reinforcements be required.
One reason for the pause is uncertainty over Nicolás Otamendi, who is out of contract, with the club waiting on a decision from their captain.
Mendy is on loan from Betis to Rayo Vallecano, and the Madrid club hold a purchase option they can trigger at the end of the season, so any Benfica move would first hinge on that.
Valued at six million euros, he has made 24 appearances this season, scoring two goals across 1,723 minutes, form that has attracted interest from several European clubs.
