Tom Lawrence's form in Australia has alerted Championship clubs

Tom Lawrence's rich vein of form for Australian A-League side, Perth Glory, has reportedly sparked transfer interest in the Welsh winger.

According to the Daily Mail, a clutch of Championship sides are interested in acquiring the 32-year-old's services - namely the trio of Blackburn Rovers, Norwich City and Charlton Athletic.

It came as a surprise to many onlookers of the British game when the experienced playmaker sealed a first move away from English and Scottish football for the first time in mid-October, as Glory sealed his signature ahead of their league campaign, which began the following week with a 2-2 home draw against New Zealand-based side, Wellington Phoenix.

After previous links to sides in the Championship and League One in the summer transfer window came and went, some may have questioned Lawrence's motivation behind the decision to make the move at this particular point of his career.

However, it is one which is clearly paying dividends for the one-time Manchester United academy graduate, as, after a slow adaptation to life 'down under', Glory are certainly the ones reaping the rewards.

As such, it is now being reported that it may only be a matter of time before the Wrexham native returns to this side of the world, with his current employers potentially unable to compete with the aforementioned trio of sides from a financial standpoint, even though they have all struggled for form across recent weeks and months.

At the time of his arrival in Perth, it was confirmed that the 23-time Wales international had only agreed a one-year contract at HFB Park after a matter of months as a free agent following his departure from Scottish Premiership side, Rangers.

After missing the first two games of the A-League campaign as he built up his fitness, Lawrence made his Perth Glory debut through a 45-minute cameo in a 2-0 home defeat to Melbourne Victory on October 31st, before opening his account for the club in a 2-1 success away from home against Newcastle Jets almost three weeks later.

Since then, the former Leicester City man has registered a further six goal contributions, with his standout performance for the club coming on December 28th, when he netted a hat-trick against Melbourne City in a 3-1 success on the road, with such feats taking his overall tally for the club to an impressive five goals and two assists in his first nine appearances.

However, such strong form could come at a cost for Adam Griffiths, who was appointed as Glory's permanent manager last month following the departure of David Zdrilic, who was responsible for overseeing Lawrence's transfer move.

The Daily Mail claim that a handful of Championship clubs have been placed on red alert regarding the Welshman's current form and contract situation, including Blackburn, Norwich and Charlton.

It may come as no surprise that Lawrence's links to Carrow Road are believed to be down to his pre-existing relationship with Philippe Clement, who replaced Liam Manning as head coach in November, whilst he also enjoyed a 23-game loan spell with Blackburn between August 2015 and January 2016.

Furthermore, yet another connection has emerged, with compatriot, Nathan Jones, also keen on securing the former Derby County talisman's services at The Valley.

It has also been claimed that Perth are keen to tie Lawrence down to a fresh contract, although they may find it extremely difficult to do so, meaning an approximate £130,000 deal could be struck between his current employers and any potential suitors.

Tom Lawrence would add much needed experience and quality to one of Norwich, Blackburn or Charlton

Lawrence hasn't featured in the Championship for almost four years now, but his quality and experience would be vital to any of the aforementioned sides.

His pre-existing relationship with Clement could be a key factor in helping Norwich drag themselves away from relegation danger, having played some of his best football at Ibrox under the Belgian's management before he was dismissed in February 2025.

At such a low cost, it is also no surprise that Valerien Ismael or Jones see Lawrence as a viable option, and one which could certainly slot into their style of play due to his technical ability and vision.
