Norwich struggled badly at the start of this season as they floundered in the relegation battle before the appointment of former Monaco and Rangers boss Philippe Clement turned their fortunes around.

It was already too late for the Canaries to launch themselves at the top six and the play-off places, but they have been one of the better sides in the Championship for a few months now and will fancy themselves to be further improved next season.

Some work will need to be done on the squad for next season and one area of the pitch that they should be looking to fill is in the attacking midfield position, with a move for Manchester City youngster Divine Mukasa.

Despite the fact that Leicester City now appear destined for relegation to League One after a few years of woeful business, the Foxes have unearthed one gem.

Their winter transfer window saw the arrivals of some players that have made little impact, such as Jamaal Lascelles, Joe Aribo and Dujuan Richards.

However, one man that joined on the final day of the market being open was Manchester City man Divine Mukasa, and he has shown some flashes of real high-level quality this season.

The 18-year-old attacker, who made his first-team debut for Manchester City earlier this season in an EFL Cup tie away at Huddersfield Town and also earned a couple of Premier League appearances in the first-half of this campaign, has been a bright spark in a desperate situation for Leicester.

The 2015/16 Premier League winners are sliding towards the third-tier, but that is in spite of the performances and ingenuity of Mukasa, who was excellent when he came in at the King Power Stadium.

In his first three starts for the club, Mukasa scored two goals and provided three assists as a desperately poor City side sought to fight their way out of trouble.

The style of football of Gary Rowett may not get the best out of a free-roaming attacking midfielder like Mukasa, especially given their current predicament, but the experienced former Millwall and Oxford United boss is still reliant on Mukasa for moments of quality.

Only two players, Abdul Fatawu and Bobby Decordova-Reid, have created more big chances for Leicester this season, despite the fact that Mukasa only joined the club in February.

A player capable of consistently creating for a team that are so dishevelled and chaotic at the moment would surely only thrive even more at a more stable and cohesive environment – and that is where Norwich should pounce.

Divine Mukasa would be a good signing for Norwich and Philippe Clement

Norwich have a very big squad. The Canaries have some very talented players and, after significant underperformance at the start of this season, have shown their quality in the last couple of months.

The East Anglians will be expected to challenge next season, but there is still room for improvement and one area of the squad would be in the attacking midfield role.

Anis Ben Slimane has been the man deployed there in recent weeks, albeit Pelle Mattsson can drive forward and has provided goals, with Paris Maghoma developing into an excellent option after his move in January.

The Tunisia international hasn’t quite taken the role by the scruff of the neck, though, and an opening remains – one that could be filled by a starlet such as Mukasa.

For example, only two players have created more than five big chances this season for Norwich; one being set-piece taker Kenny McLean and the other being the frustratingly inconsistent, albeit versatile, Oscar Schwartau.

McLean, again aided by set-pieces, is the only man to create more than 26 chances in total thus far this season and extra help in regards of chance creation is required at Carrow Road – something Mukasa has shown he is capable of at the level for a much weaker side with a much more defensive-minded coach in charge.

Norwich have done very well with loan deals in the recent past and especially ones from Manchester City, too, with both Callum Doyle and Jacob Wright being examples of players who have come through the Cityzens’ academy and thrived for a spell at Carrow Road.

Change will be afoot for Norwich this summer, especially with their squad likely needing trimmed, but Divine Mukasa is someone they should be looking to get in the building ahead of next season.
