Achraf Hakimi is a doubt to face Bayern Munich in the second leg of Paris Saint-Germain’s UEFA Champions League semi-finals.
PSG will head to Bavaria with a slender one-goal lead to protect after a thrilling game at the Parc des Princes on Tuesday night (5-4). However, the night ended on a worrying note for the reigning European champions. Hakimi went down clutching his hamstring after trying to close down Konrad Laimer.
He remained on the ground but was ultimately left on the pitch as PSG could not make any more substitutions. The Morocco was placed in an attacking position, out of harm’s way, in order to prevent him from having to do any defensive sprints.
Hakimi has now undergone his first medical exams since the game. They have shown that it was not simply a question of cramp, according to Fabrice Hawkins. If it is merely a simple strain (and that will be shown in more thorough tests later in the day), then there will be a race against time to be fit for the second leg, against Bayern Munich, on Wednesday. Warren Zaire-Emery would be the Moroccan’s natural replacement.
