Not just Musiala: This Bayern star is back on the pitch

Two returning players are making positive headlines at FC Bayern: Jamal Musiala and another key player are back on the training pitch.

After a short but targeted break, Luis Díaz is back in training at FC Bayern. The Colombian had recently taken a break because he missed two competitive matches – a red card suspension in the Champions League and a yellow card suspension in the Bundesliga made it possible. Vincent Kompany used the opportunity for targeted stress management.

With 1,694 minutes, the winger is one of the busiest players in the Munich squad. Only three team-mates have been on the pitch longer this season. According to Kompany, the break was no coincidence: „Luis has always played everything, for us and the national team. He always has long trips. He was in England for a long time, so he never had Christmas off. It makes sense for him to have a few days off and be away.“

Individual program instead of standstill

Even though Díaz was released from team training for a few days, everyday life was by no means relaxed. The Bayern coach made it clear that his players are not allowed to switch off completely even on special leave. „Sometimes we give players a little longer off, but they have an individual program and continue to work at home. The boys work almost every day and also have physios in private.“

The measure was part of a larger plan: Kompany wants to allow his regular players to regenerate in a targeted manner in order to have full power on the pitch again in the decisive phase of the season. „He will then come back mentally on top and pick up where he left off,“ emphasized the coach.

During the break, Díaz even stayed in Munich and went to the Christmas market with his wife – without any long-distance travel. The 28-year-old is now back on the pitch and ready for the tasks ahead.

Jamal Musiala also completed his first light training session with the team on Monday, an important step after his long injury break.
