Nottingham Forest fans hoping to see their team win at the City Ground against Newcastle for the first time in the Premier League.

Last time the two team met was at St James’ Park in December, Chris Wood scoring a hat-trick in a Forest away win.

However, before that match, in the Premier League era Newcastle had (home and away) won eight, drawn three and lost none.

A tight Premier League table shows only four points separating ten teams, from Forest down to Newcastle.

However, if Forest pick up a win today, they will be guaranteed to go into the international break third in the table.

Nottingham Forest fans comment via their LTLF message board:

‘It’s going to be a thrilling game, with /forest winning on the back of phenomenal home support.

I’m not going to predict the final score, but i just know we will outscore them.

There’s not a team we can’t beat in this division.

Come on you Mighty reds.’

‘Very tough run of games coming up, I think what is important is to make The City Ground a fortress again, so I hope we can at least get a point.

Newcastle will be the most confident they have been all season coming into this.’

‘Skunks get lucky I think.’

‘Leave M and M to take care of Gordon and Isaak, and get at their defence. Burn is as slow as an oil tanker and has the same turning circle, and him and Schar have always got a card in them.’

‘I feel like Newcastle have got lucky in every game they’ve played at the WFCG since we went up. It’s got to run out some time. Lets make sure it’s this weekend.’

‘I’m going to keep thinking a humbling is round the corner, for my sanity. Newcastle’s form is recovering and Lily Savage was looking particularly sharp against Arsenal. My bookies make them very slight favourites and so do I. Isak to buy a soft pen off the referee and a frustrating day all round.’

‘Success breeds success and confidence must be really high amongst the team. Newcastle don’t quite appear to be at the races just yet so this is a good time to play them. 2-0 to the famous team.’

‘Newcastle are damned quick, but don’t like it up ’em. Forest win.’

‘I really like Newcastle, and watch as many of their matches as I can.

Like us they play with real heart, and I truly think our starting 11s are equal in quality and both managers are highly skilled. Where I think we will have them is with our subs – Sosa and Jota Silva will scare the heck out of them I think.

2-1 Forest.’

‘I think this could be our toughest test yet.

Snap your hand off for a point to keep the run going.’

‘I think this is another game where it’s ours to lose. If we don’t make mistakes and continue to work as hard as we have been then we’ll have too much for Newcastle.

That said, it’s a dangerous time to be playing them. I didn’t see the Arsenal game but they’ve had a very tough run of fixtures and they’ve rarely looked uncompetitive, it was more just lacking a bit up front. Now they have Isak and Gordon finding some form, and Livramento has come in and looks good. And FFS someone close down Schar!’

‘We can beat Newcastle, for sure. But they’re a really weird team this season – they’ve somewhat flattered to deceive oftentimes, having scraped out results they probably didn’t merit, but they more than deserved their win against Arsenal and Isak is back on form for them.

They’ll be dangerous and I can see it being a close game that will likely be decided by one goal. Wouldn’t be entirely disappointed with a draw to be honest – though given what our next two away fixtures are, it’d be nice to get 3 points from our home games to keep us in a decent position.’

‘I think we can beat them–them besting Arsenal, in this moment, is not as big a deal as it would seem.’

‘Bit of a re-post I know, but my hatred is so great I have to scream it twice.

The only club I truly HATE is Newcastle United. Geordies! Give me strength. Ant and dec, Robson Green, Paul Gascoigne, Jimmy Nail, Cheryl Cole/Tweedy, Geordie Shores, 1974, Hairy Biker, Denise Welch, ALAN SHEARER!! (On my excempt list is Bobby Robson RIP & 1980’s Viz). I go up Northumberland often coz it has amazing beaches and a sister in law married one of the local tw.ts. Soon as I hear that accent – my teeth start itching and my right eye waters & twitches. Please let this be our biggest win of the season!!’

‘Blimey mate, don’t sit on the fence, just say what you really feel.’

‘Pope in goal. That’s the weakness.’

‘Willock was tidy for them in the cup, untill he went off injured.’

‘I feeling good so I agree with some other posters, we’re going to smash them 4-0. Not often I make a score prediction, but with our pretty much unchanged XI and subs we can take on anyone.’

‘General vibe from the Newcastle fans is they’re worried that Howe is sticking with the same team that was successfully set up as a counter attacking team against the possession hungry Arsenal and Chelsea – mainly the choice of Longstaff over Tonali.
