Nottingham Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis has vowed to help fund the medical care of any of the fans caught up in a mass stabbing incident on a train on Saturday.
Passengers travelling from Doncaster to London were attacked, leaving 11 people injured.
According to the Guardian, one of those involved was a Forest season-ticket holder who suffered serious injuries while protecting a young girl.
The Greek businessman said: “Everyone at Nottingham Forest is shocked and deeply saddened by what happened.
“The courage and selflessness shown by our supporters on that train represents the very best of humanity and the very best of our club’s community.
“We will make sure any supporter caught up in this incident receives whatever financial support they require to enable them to access the best possible medical care as they recover.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with all those affected.”
Forest held Manchester United to a 2-2 draw in Saturday’s Premier League meeting at the City Ground, ending a run of four successive league defeats.
Supporters were returning to London on the train when the horrific incident happened.
Forest have endured a difficult start to the season, having sacked two managers already.
The club dismissed Nuno Espirito Santo after a breakdown in his relationship with Marinakis.
Ange Postecoglou was brought in as his replacement, but he lasted just over a month in the job.
Sean Dyche is now in charge, and he guided them to a positive result against United.
The club sit 19th in the Premier League standings with six points from 10 matches.
