According to Sky Sports, Nottingham Forest have had an enquiry for Brighton and Hove Albion defender Lewis Dunk rejected, with Brighton holding no interest in a sale and a deal before 2 February looking unlikely.
Forest had considered Dunk last summer during a busy window of 13 signings, and renewed their interest this month.
Dunk signed fresh terms to 2027 and remains a key figure for Brighton under Fabian Hurzeler.
At centre-back Nikola Milenkovic and Murillo have established themselves as first choice, impressing in Sunday’s 2-0 win at Brentford that secured a second straight Premier League clean sheet.
Morato and Willy Boly offer further cover, with youngsters Zach Abbott and Jair Cunha also available. Jair has barely featured since arriving in the summer and Boly could depart before the deadline as his deal expires at season’s end.
Forest know Murillo has many admirers at home and abroad. Offers are unlikely to be entertained mid-season, though the picture could change in the summer.
Forward Lorenzo Lucca arrived on Friday on loan from Napoli. The Reds have until 2 February to add more, with business expected both ways.
Douglas Luiz’s loan from Juventus is set to be cut short with a return to Aston Villa in the pipeline, while fellow loanee Oleksandr Zinchenko is due to end his spell early before a move to Ajax.
Despite Lucca’s arrival, Forest are pursuing another striker and have tabled a £35 million bid for Crystal Palace’s Jean-Philippe Mateta.
