Nottingham Forest step up Algarve work as Hutchinson trains and others continue rehab | OneFootball

Nottingham Forest have been working through the Portuguese heat on a 12-day camp on The Algarve, returning to the pitch on Friday after facing Blackburn Rovers in their second friendly on Wednesday. According to Nottingham Post, the session was opened up and observed on site.

Omari Hutchinson sat out the Rovers game with muscle tightness and was rested as a precaution. Oliver Glasner had said he hoped the winger would be available to face Vitoria in a behind-closed-doors game on Sunday, and Hutchinson trained with team-mates today.

Centre-back Murillo, winger Callum Hudson-Odoi and full-back Nicolo Savona are still building fitness after injuries. Murillo worked individually during the session and Hudson-Odoi emerged later to do the same, while Savona was not seen.

After last weekend’s win over Notts County, Glasner said he thought Hudson-Odoi would be the quickest to return, with Murillo and Savona taking more time, and stressed the need for caution after surgery. He added that Murillo is already training, with intensity being gradually increased before a full return.

New signing Xaver Schlager has gone straight into the thick of it after joining earlier this week. The Austrian midfielder knows Glasner from their Wolfsburg days and said the reunion, along with the club’s ambition, helped convince him.

Schlager appears to have settled quickly, with spirits high in camp. Training started a little later than scheduled but once underway it was focused work, with a clear emphasis on players taking responsibility in possession.
