Last month, Kylian Mbappe was able to match Cristiano Ronaldo’s tally of scoring 11 Champions League goals in six matches.
Now, following his recent goal against Valencia at Mestalla, the Frenchman has reached 38 goals in just 31 games this season, maintaining an average of more than 1.22 goals per match.
Real Madrid manager Alvaro Arbeloa recently addressed this extraordinary form, noting that the club did not expect to see another player head in Ronaldo’s direction so quickly.
The historical comparisons between the two superstars are becoming increasingly competitive, as reported by MARCA.
In his first 90 matches for Real Madrid, Mbappe has netted 82 goals, a tally that stands impressively close to the 86 goals Ronaldo scored in his first 90 appearances for the club.
While the Frenchman currently averages 0.91 goals per game since his debut, his current season’s pace suggests he could potentially surpass Ronaldo’s all-time record of 451 goals in just 302 more games.

In fact, Mbappe’s performances have been so vital that since the 2021-22 season, when Karim Benzema enjoyed a remarkable campaign, the club have not seen such a heavy reliance on a single individual since Cristiano left the Bernabeu.
As the season progresses, it appears the team’s success is increasingly tied to how far Mbappe can take them.
Despite these numbers, Mbappe remains aware that goals alone will not be enough to earn him a permanent place in the club’s legendary history.
Cristiano Ronaldo was the cornerstone of the historic team that secured three consecutive Champions League titles, cementing his status as a generational hero.
To truly rival his childhood idol, Mbappe must ensure that his statistics translate into the European silverware that defines the heritage of a club with 15 European Cups.
