Tounekti also spoke about his Celtic teammate, the Sweden international Benjamin Nygren,  saying that he will e cheering on Nygren – and Sweden – in the World Cup play-offs later this month as if the Swedes can make it through to the finals they’ll be in the same group as the already qualified Tunisia.

The Celtic winger praised Nyreen scoring exploits this season with the super Swede hitting 19 goals for the Hoops and one for his national side in this campaign.  Sweden have to get past Ukraine in the play-off semi-final in Valencia and if they can do that they will face the winners of the Poland versus Albania tie for a golden ticket to the World Cup Finals.

Tounekti believes that Benjamin Nygren’s goalscoring ability could make the difference in these evenly balanced matches and that his Celtic teammate could propel the Swede’s all the way to this summer’s World Cup Finals

“He’s in absolutely tremendous form. He scores goals everywhere. He is always in the right place, and even if he is not seen very much in every match or has so many touches on the ball, he is always there in the right place at the right time,” Tounekti said, as reported by The Herald.

“So I definitely think Sweden should use him in the play-offs. We’ve talked about it a bit. I really hope they make it to the World Cup. It would be great fun to face Sweden.”

Asked about the trouble at Ibrox after Celtic’s dramatic penalty shoot-out win in the Scottish Cup quarter-final against the Rangers, Tounekti admitted that it didn’t look good.

“The game was something special,” The Celtic winger said. “We won on penalties, and then I noticed that our fans came out to celebrate with us. Then I just saw that the Rangers fans also made their way onto the pitch.

“After that, the players ran into the dressing room. There were nasty scenes. I didn’t really have time to think about it. I just ran in, and then you could see in the pictures afterwards that it didn’t look good – It wasn’t good.”
